As from today, it has been 4 weeks since I have started this training. A little reminder, this is a 21-week long training for my debut to the triathlon/marathon/road bike racing. After these 5 and half month, I will create my own training plan. It has been going well as I am starting my 5th week. Swimming is still hard but I have been doing a lot better than when I first started. Biking is a bit tough on my knees but I just need to be careful. Not that I wasn't a health freak before, I am going to start eating the right stuff. I am still figuring out whether I should eat as much as I can or if I should try to be like those skinny runners. It's also tough to be vegetarian. I also want to learn as many recipes as I can stop cooking plain pasta for dinner. I am starting to figure out why the author of the training program says, "Triathletes are the most organized people in the world".
My goal for summer 2008:
"A good week for a top age-group athlete might be 15,000 meters in the pool, 175 miles on the bike, and 40 miles running. You'll win or place in your age group with such weeks, if done on a regular basis."
Week 5 - 10/08/07 ~Focus: Nutrition and Healthy Diet
This week is going to be tough! I have like 5000-8000 yards of swimming, 2 hrs of biking and 135 minutes of running to do. O shit!
-Monday: I had to do my homework :( Spent 3 days on my 2 problems homework and I am still stuck!
Mood: First time I had to miss one of my run. School sucks!
-Tuesday: Swim 1500 m-24hr fitness mall 205
Mood: Felt good.
-Wednesday: Run 7miles 57'58'' - 8.29 min/miles - Terwilliger Nike Club / Work out
Mood: Felt exhausted especially when I was going up the hill.

Mood: I was so tired =( I better train hard if I wanna be ready for my event in 22 days! Gotta be able to run a lap under a minute by the end of the week and swimming 20 min without stopping within the next couple of weeks.

Week 6 - 10/15/07 ~Focus: Swim longer without resting. Run faster without whining =D Keep up with the training
I am going to try to add 3 light work out on top of my regular training.
-Monday: Run 7.2 miles 54'46'' - 7.61 min/miles - Spring Corridor Nike Club / Work out Abs, Chest, Biceps and some pull ups (back) 24 hr fitness
Mood: Lats I ran that fast was 2 years ago during the 5 miles event at the Portland marathon. That time, I did 7:58 (or 7.97 min/miles) pace. This time, I could hardly breathe at the end but I only started running around the end. I know I can still run faster. I am going to aim to run the 7 miles under the 50 minutes mark. What a way to start the week ...
-Tuesday: On my way to volunteer (from PSU to Mall 205) it started raining like crazy. Yeah, I was biking when it started raining like crazy at 2:30PM. I almost got hit by a car that did not stop at the STOP sign and then try to pass me on my right as I was exiting the round about (Ladd Circle) I almost got a heart attack before I yelled at her. She stopped looking furious (WTF) and dumb and then kept going. Then I decided to stop by house to get my rain gears because I was getting really wet. On my way there, a fuking car came 2 feet away from me, I yelled at him/her but I guess he/she did not hear me and continue. I arrived at home all soaked... really soaked; like my shoes/socks and my pants/shirt retained at least a cup of water each ... I need to mention I was also in a hurry since I had to volunteer at 3:30 around mall 205... So I try to hurry, change my cloth, socks and put some rain gears on, I also put my swimming gears and towel in my bags. I get out of my house and start biking and the sun decides to come back. I started biking on division and another fucking car comes two feet away from me. The guy was driving 40 mph, as he passes me, a guy at the bus stop says "that was close" as I was still in shock, I barely had the time to yell a word before the guys already left. I continue biking on dividion super pissed off. I arrive next to 82nd when a guy decides to change lane without signaling as I was changing lane myself. The guy had a big fucking truck, I was so tired I thought yelling or hitting his car was pointless at the time. So then, I arrive on Division and 99th and I about to turn left to go to mall 205; I was on the far right lane and I figured out I didn't want to push my luck any further, so I decide to get out of my bike and walk the cross walk as a pedestrian. As I am coming back on my bike, guess what! I got a freaking flat tire. Thank you the nail! I decided to call it a day and walk back home, a good 40 block.... I thought being around kids and helping when you are pissed wasn't worth it.
I guess today is my rest day.... at rest for my body =D and I got 30/30 on that math problem ^^ but he assigned us another one ... "What a way to start the week ..."

Mood: It was really cold on the last 3.5 miles and started raining. I need to bring/find my gloves and start running with long sleeves, and buy myself something to cover my ears when I am running and biking...

Mood: My right knee started hurting

Mood: My right knee was hurting on and off during the day. During the spin class, I manage to shake it off by pedaling harder but I felt it again during my swim. I iced it, we'll see how it goes during tomorrow's run...
-Wednesday: Run 5 miles 40'36'' - 8.12 min/miles - Springwater Nike Club / Work out 2 repetitions of the 10 blue machines witj Joerg
Mood: My knee was killing me. I am going to give it one last try tomorrow. If it is still painful, I will take a good rest.

-Wednesday: 20min swim, 20min bike a little bit of running until my knee started hurting again. work out.
-Thursday: 24 spin cycle. Worked out
-Friday: 2.5 hr badminton. Dance for 2+ hrs (can you call that working out?)

Week 9 - 11/05/07 ~Focus: If I can't run, I will swim or bike-- no more excuses

-Wednesday: Run 5 miles ... like an idiot. I guess I wanted to test my new toy.. I am not running until my trip to France ... =( That's what I get for being stubborn. My knee is killing me! Swim 1000m

-Friday: nothing
